This image, strongly symbolic of thefeminine, explores my daughter Zoe’s performance of self.
Zoë has been a consistent subject in my photography for over twodecades.
Since the age of fourteen, Zoë has unswervingly faced my camera - and me (her mother and photographer) - performing various explorations of [her]self. Photographing Zoë is a long form project that has confronted themes of girlhood, fertility, womanhood and the maternal relationship always set against a backdrop of home.
